M. Azahara Veroz-González is a Lecturer at the University of Córdoba, Spain, where she teaches French as a Foreign Language. She also teaches on the Master’s Degree in English Studies at the University of Jaén, Spain. Her research focuses on translation technologies (especially corpora), specialised translation, and foreign language education. She has published in prestigious journals and coordinates UCOTerm, a website dedicated to resources for scientific and technical translation. She has also participated in GAMETRAPP and TRADILEX, both funded by Spain’s Ministry of Science and Innovation. She is currently co- editor-in-chief of Hikma: Revista de Traducción (UCOPress).
Alejandro Bolaños García-Escribano is an Associate Professor at University College London, UK, where he teaches (audiovisual) translation. He holds an MSc in Audiovisual Translation and a PhD in Translation Studies from the UCL Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS). He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) as well as a Member (MCIL) and Chartered Linguist (CL) of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL). He is Associate Editor of The Interpreter and Translator Trainer (Taylor & Francis) and the Book Reviews Editor for Hikma: Revista de Traducción (UCOPress).
ABSTRACT
In a context of increasingly pervasive automation technologies, this book rethinks approaches to the teaching of medical translation and interpreting. The chapters herein highlight the latest advancements in this field while emphasising the value of the researchers’ contribution to translation studies. Comprising keynote speeches, research papers, a roundtable and workshops, the contents of this book have been produced by leading experts in the field of translation and interpreting in medical and healthcare scenarios.
We aim to showcase examples of good practice that ultimately bring the role of human translators and interpreters to the forefront of research into teacher training. This videobook is divided into four sections: (I) Medical Translation, (II) Medical Interpreting, (III) Linking Research and Practice in Medical Translation, and (IV) Hands-on Workshops.
