The Department is made up of three Areas: Cellular Biology, Physiology and Immunology. Assigned to the Department, there are a total of 23 full professors, 7 contracted doctoral professors, 17 contracted doctors, 5 members of the technical management, administration and services staff (PTGAS), 3 laboratory technicians and 35 predoctoral contractors, who are distributed in different facilities on the Menéndez Pidal and Rabanales Campuses, forming part of four sections, for the purposes of academic organization and management.
Its teaching staff annually teaches a total of 4,500 students in undergraduate degrees in Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Veterinary Medicine, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Psychology and degrees. University Master in Biotechnology, University Master in Translational Biomedical Research, University Master in Human Nutrition, University Master in Equine Medicine, University Master in Compulsory Secondary Education Teaching, Vocational Training and Language Teaching, as well as in the Doctorate Programs in Biomedicine and Biosciences and Agri-Food Sciences. The research staff is part of seven groups of the Andalusian Plan for Research, Development and Innovation (PAIDI) that carry out intense research activity with regional, national and international funding.
