in Language Teaching Association. She has published widely on Spanish film and the use of film in language teaching.
Marga Navarrete is Language Coordinator in the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies at UCL, where she teaches Spanish. She also teaches translation and localisation for postgraduate students at the Centre for Translation Studies. Her PhD focuses on the impact of active audio description tasks on language learners’ oral skills. She is currently working on SUBFILM (Subtitling to improve writing and translation skills: making short films accessible) an audiovisual translation (AVT) research project. Previous to this, she has taken part in a number of audiovisual research projects for Foreign Language Education (FLE): CREATE, SONAR and VICTOR, which were all run by UNED (National Distance Education University, Spain). She also worked on the EU funded ClipFlair project, designing, piloting and publishing audiovisual translation tasks for language learning and disseminating the lessons learnt.
