Training the Experts in Medical Translation
aims to entertain whilst offering an opportunity to learn about health seamlessly. This new reality has been examined by audiovisual translation scholars whose research efforts have addressed the heterogeneous and multidisciplinary of these programmes. Numerous empirical studies have analysed medicine-related audiovisual programmes and have contributed to the creation of new research models that prove that audiovisual translation may involve instances of specialised terminology and phraseology. Moreover, audiovisual programmes on medical topics hold great potential in language learning as well as other educational contexts. This special issue highlights case studies involving a variety of formats, topics, approaches, and purposes in audiovisual translation research.
